Welcome to the 2018-2019 concert season at Glenview Community Church. With its variety of musical styles and sonorities, Simple Gifts hopes to touch and nourish the souls of all who enter here, creating a celebration through music shared by congregational, community and international artists. Our concerts support local charitable organizations and promote social justice in our world. Join us as we make a difference through music!

Sing to Live Community Chorus - The Great American Songbook

Enjoy some of the most important and influential American popular songs and jazz standards from the early 20th century including the wonderful music of Harold Arlen, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, Hoagy Carmichael and much, much more. Dr. Wilbert Watkins, Conductor.

Imprint: A Homecoming Celebration

Saturday, October 27th at 7:30pm and Sunday, October 28th at 2:00pm

Students of retired choir director Marty Sirvatka, and from four decades of his training, will gather to sing solos, duets, and in several ensembles. The music will include all sorts of genres, from Country Western to Musical Theatre to Rock and Roll and will feature performances from the choir directors of Glenbrook South and New Trier High Schools. Imprint is a non-profit organization created to not only connect those who have a passion for music and performance, but also connect generations of musicians to the community that has supported them for so long.

Proceeds from Imprint will be split between A Just Harvest and the Martin G. Sirvatka Scholarship fund at GBS to help students with voice lessons and a summer music camp experience.

Apollo Chorus - Fall Preview Concert

Apollo Chorus

The Apollo Chorus of Chicago has a matchless heritage. Founded in 1872, it is one of the oldest volunteer choral societies in the United States and the oldest musical organization in Chicago. Its over 120 auditioned members include men and women of all ages, races, creeds, and occupations brought together by their abiding love of music. Dr. Stephen Alltop, Conductor.

Toys for Tots

Join the Toys Choir and the Glenview Concert Band for an unforgettable evening of holiday music and fun. This concert benefits the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves Toys for Tots Program

Mearra ~ Selkie from the Sea transports listeners, inviting children and adults alike to use their imaginations as they enter an enchanted world that has inspired writers and composers like Yeats, Synge, and Arnold Bax for centuries.

Concert for Peace

Members and friends of GCC will explore the theme of “Peace” through a wide variety of styles and ensembles. Katherine Hughes, Kevin Kizer, Jade Maze, Kent Wehman, Gary Wendt and others
perform in this annual concert favorite!

This concert benefits Hands of Peace - an interfaith organization developing peacebuilding and
leadership skills in Israeli Palestinian and American teens through the power of dialogue
and personal relationships.

American Guild of Organists Young Artist Recital

Organ Recital

Join us for a concert featuring talented young Chicago-area organists playing our renowned sanctuary organ. This recital will be sponsored by our local chapter of the American Guild of Organists. Featuring Jonathan Rudy, NYACOP winner at the Boston AGO Convention in 2014, and Adam Gruber, a recent Master’s graduate of Indiana University.

A free-will offering will be taken to support Northfield Township Food Pantry.

Organ Walk 8

Sunday, May 19th 3:00pm

A walk (or drive) between three Glenview churches, featuring organists Christopher Urban (Holy Trinity Lutheran Church), Kirstin Synnestvedt (New Church), Rich Spantikow (St. David’s Church) and Gary Wendt (Glenview Community Church). We will begin at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church at 3:00 and conclude around 5:00 at GCC. Check www.gccmusic.com for exact concert route.
